Vietnam, Water and Puppets

Land and Water

“Traveling along vietnam, one can see water everywhere: in rivers, in paddy-fields and in residential areas.

For thousand of years, water has become an indispensable element of the country.

Thus, in the Vietnamese language, đất nước (land and water) means the country or the motherland.”

Pham Hoang Hai, “Vietnamese Water Puppetry”, 2011
