Today I presented the first episode of the documentary in Dante Alighieri, Italian Language Center in Hanoi (Vietnam).
It’s hard to describe how enriching and interesting was the experience. The public was composed by Vietnemese students, that gave me so many opinions and suggestions for further episodes.
Maybe the best thing was seeing everyone paying attention during the movie, and laughing watching water puppetry sketches.
After the movie, many students start to talk about water puppets and they asked me many questions about this art.
It was wonderful for me observing how my documentary excites debate and curiosity about the topic of water puppetry in young Vietnamese guys from a big city like Hanoi. I red somewhere that a good documentary is one that draws attention to an issue and not to itself. I think it could be true in many cases, from some point of view. Tonight was one of those cases, one of those points of view.
But the real best thing was coming back home in motorbike with my Vietnamese friends, in a very hard rain. I was so happy for the screening of the movie that my heart was singing, singing in the rain.
Thanks to everyone who was present tonight.
